Half were restored within about 3.5 hr, and county-level outages here have been most common in summer (34% of all records). The busiest year on record was 2025.

Largest single-county outage on record: ~116,190 customers out in Henrico County in June 2016, restored after about 3.8 days.

Months that hit the widest area at once — these rank among the three largest outages ever recorded in the most counties: October 2018 (34 counties), March 2018 (24 counties), September 2024 (20 counties).

Where restoration has historically taken longest: Fairfax County (~7.3 hr typical), Henrico County (~6.8 hr typical), Dickenson County (~6.5 hr typical) — against ~3.5 hr statewide.
